A dream for your palate and a romantic night to remember
Estamariu is one of the municipalities of the Alt Urgell District, located at 1084 m above sea level, between the banks of the Bescaran and the Ribona ravine. Located within the Catalan High Pyrenees.
Estamariu is refered to ancient documents, as the "Act of Consecration of St. Mary of Urgel" from 819-839, where it appears as "Stamariz".
The village of Estamariu hosts the charming Cal Teixidó. An enchanting Pyrenean house restored with all the enthusiasm of the Planes family behind it, ideal for romantic or holiday getaways, in a quiet location with magnificent views of Cadi.
The portal of entry at Cal Teixidó reminds us today of the ancient custom of fortifying the inhabited settlements. Village elders still recall the ancient gate that stood at the west side of the town.
